ML 1

From June 1 until June 22 we left a game camera on the Robles Trail, a short 3km loop trail that intersects with a few creeks at the base of Mount Totumas. We often found tracks while hiking here but we were absolutely blown away by what the game camera revealed. the above photo is a mountain lion, one of 9 images of a mountain lion taken during these 21 days and the only one shot during the day. Here are all the images in order. Not included are the black blurry shots. The camera’s date was not set right so ignore the reference to october 2014!

What is hidden in these forests that we almost never see……..

dynastes nasty

We have been patiently waiting and finally we had the first specimen of Dynastes hercules arrive at MTCF at 5AM on May 28th shortly before dawn. This is the largest Dynastes beetle in Central America and is aptly named as it can drag up to 8kg, over 850 times it own weight. This is an awesome beetle.
