I mentioned a few months back a guest from the Czech Republic who visited Mount Totumas in May 2014, Mr. Petr Bambousek. He is a professional photographer and you can see some of his amazing photos from natural areas around the world at www.sulasula.com. He just kindly sent me some of the highlight photos from his past visit to Mount Totumas Cloud Forest. Simply Stunning!

hydroponic strawberries

hydroponic strawberries 2

Lovely sweet strawberries. We haven’t had enough time yet to fully experiment with the hydroponic system our good friend Kevin helped set up but the strawberries have worked out just fine. And the pump that circulates the water is powered by our hydro system so no energy costs associated with growing these strawberries.

The presence of apex predators like the Mountain Lion and Jaguar are indicators of a healthy ecosystem. These large cats have large territories and require healthy prey populations. Bordering La Amistad National Park connects the 400 acres of Mount Totumas Cloud Forest with an immense wilderness. For this reason each of the three locations were we set up the game camera have yielded images of Mountain Lions. These most recent images were captured between Sept 1-14, 2014. We also captured images of their prey; Collared Peccary, Armadillo and Red Brocket Deer.

We are ever hopeful to one day get an image of a Jaguar.
